You will be able to see tremendous career progression and for that you will not need to turn into a rolling stone. Whereas, in the government jobs you will have plenty of time to complete the tasks at a leisurely pace and not be rushed. * Appraisal systems or in depth ones as such are missing from government jobs. If you are able to listen to instructions and keep your supervisor happy with your work then you have an assured career. * In government jobs the promotions are always based on the tenure in the organization rather than meritocracy. There is not much of rewarding meritocracy over tenure. Hence the longer you work for the government you are certainly assured of promotions, almost like your birthright. In the private sector there is more of a likelihood of a burnout due to the constant stress and meeting of deadlines. This will never happen in the government sector.
