GOVERNMENT JOB BENEFITS IN INDIA

People always knew that Indian Government Jobs were far more beneficial to one, when compared to the corporate and private sector. But, the recession and the job cuts in the private sector have reinforced this opinion.

Government Jobs in India offer one several benefits which are tangible as well as intangible.

Let us enumerate them:

    * The pay is on par with the corporate sector especially with the sixth pay commission in place. The pay structure and the perks that a government employee gets is something to be really pleased about.

    * The retirement age is about to be increased to 60 rather than the mandatory 58 in other sectors and industries. Hence, it gives one two more years of productivity.

    * The government sector has plans for years to come and really huge budgets to implement them. They cannot go bankrupt or insolvent like a company. Hence, the security that they can offer the employee is unparallel to any other job. The government can be your first employer and you can comfortably retire from there.

    * There are plenty of Govt Vacancies in 2009 as there are many major projects and the Indian economy is booming and has a lot of growth potential.

    * The Govt of india jobs are not absolutely profit driven like in business or industries. They will not beat up their employees into frenzy for the extra dollar earned. They are happy to break even or make a small profit.

    * The Government Vacancies will enable you to work on projects that are long term say up to twenty years. The appraisals and productivity concerns will not be something that you will be losing sleep about. Whereas in the private sector you are as good as your work today, whatever you did yesterday is gone and forgotten. You can rest on your past laurels and once you have proved yourself you can be assured of recognition.

    * In the Govt Recruitment you will have affiliations to professional organizations and participation will be a great learning experience. You will be able to see tremendous career progression and for that you will not need to turn into a rolling stone. You will find all the opportunities within the government organization.

    * Think of the workload that you will constantly be battling with in the corporate sector. Whereas, in the government jobs you will have plenty of time to complete the tasks at a leisurely pace and not be rushed.

    * Appraisal systems or in depth ones as such are missing from government jobs. If you are able to listen to instructions and keep your supervisor happy with your work then you have an assured career.

    * In government jobs the promotions are always based on the tenure in  the organization rather than meritocracy. There is not much of  rewarding meritocracy over tenure. Hence the longer you work for the  government you are certainly assured of promotions, almost like your  birthright.

In the private sector there is more of a likelihood of a burnout due to the constant stress and meeting of deadlines. This will never happen in the government sector.

Apparently, there are lots more benefits in the government sector when compared to private firms.
